Bruce (the 6th son) here with a seasonal update...and one that I'm thrilled to be making because green grass and lots of life are arriving with SPRING.

Here's what's happening in Roanoke:

 

We have Chicks in the Brooder!

Thankfully, Spring weather seems to be in full swing which means in a matter of weeks we'll have these future boiler chickens out on pasture foraging for a good meal under the Indiana sunshine.

If you've been following along on our Instagram you've seen the hard work the farm guys have been putting in the last month to ready the brooder for these fury critters.
 

A BIG Spring Project kicks off

We're making some big changes around the farm so our visitors and on-farm store customers can get a better look at the cattle, hogs, laying hens and broilers. This is a big initiative that we kicked off with much enthusiasm (despite the crummy cloudy, wet weather!).

We got a number of fence posts placed and fencing is set to be installed soon.

Our vision for this part of the farm is to also include walking paths to make viewing the animals easier. Stay tuned for more progress updates!
 

Baaaah...it's Lamb season

Spring lamb season is tough to beat. While our flock is smaller this year, which means fewer of these curious, cute critters to enjoy...life sure is grand when you get to be in their presence. 

I can promise that the baby lambs are some of the kid's favorites.
