At PastureBird, chickens are actually pasture-raised. It’s not a trendy label or a marketing gimmick. Every 24 hours our chickens move onto completely fresh pasture to enjoy new grassland, sunshine, bugs, grains and budding flowers — the way nature intended.

Our pasture raised chicken lives the majority of their lives on fresh pasture, eating bugs, grains, grass and legumes. They are moved daily to increase the amount of green forage and proteins the birds consume. They are free to explore, scratch and forage. At night, they are moved into coops for shelter from predators.

Daily movement improves the soil health. Manure enriches the soil and prevents diseased pastures. Pastured poultry regenerates pasture, builds soil and gives back to the land.

A varied diet of bugs, grass, legumes, and grains contributes to the health, taste, and nutrition of the final product. Pasturebird chicken has higher vitamin, mineral and fatty acid content than traditional chicken, and is always non-GMO and antibiotic-free.

What triggered a start or shift towards regenerative farming practices?
When we saw how much greenwashing there was within the Agriculture community and how our food was being produced, we knew there was an opportunity for improvement. It has been amazing to see how our efforts so far have completely restored and regenerated the land we serve.
Why is it important to you that consumers have a trusted food source?
Transparency with everything we do is one of our core principles. It is so important that consumers can see for themselves how we are raising their food that we invite people to come to our farm tours. We even take it a step further and offer the first ever live stream of our farm in an effort to promote radical transparency.
What inspires you to get out of bed each morning to accomplish the hard work you do?
Without any "real" experience as a farmer when we began Pasturebird, we quickly realized the hard work and also how it can pay off when done the right way. We move our birds to fresh pasture every single day and that requires a presence on our farm and boots on the ground. Wanting to continue to improve the process and make regenerative agriculture scale, we recently launched the ARC (automated range coop) which moves the chickens to fresh pasture every single day through a touch of a button and by using solar power to do it. It's not only that, it's also the chickens that get to live a life outdoors and who get to move every single day to play, hunt, and forage. It's the people we meet who say, "finally, the chicken we grew up eating is available again". With a higher nutrient density than even organic chicken, pasture raised is nourishing our families and we couldn't be more excited to get up every day and make that dream a reality.
